OK. On to the boring stuff.
SMFF GENERAL RULES
We strongly encourage entrants submitting hard-copy DVDs to put them in a paper DVD sleeve. When packaging, protect the DVD in a padded envelope, or similar package. Please DO NOT send your DVD in a slim, jewel, or standard DVD case.
Please note that the ONLY difference in the early submission deadline versus the final submission deadline is the fee. The submission process and consideration by the Programming Team is not affected by the date you submit your film. Your chances are equal regardless of the day your film makes it into our office, as long as it is postmarked by the final deadline!
We appreciate filmmakers submitting their work as early as possible.
Social Media Film Festival films will be selected by the festival programmers and judges. All selections will be posted on our site some time in July 2012. ALL films submitted to the festival are seen and scored by various programmers. All films that have a higher average, or are a favorite of a programmer, go on to final deliberations. SMFF selects its films by majority vote.
Film Submissions are non-returnable. Please do not send original materials.
If a film is accepted, entrants will be solely responsible for delivering their exhibition video materials to and from the festival venue. Complete press kits will be needed as soon after notification as possible. SMFF cannot be held liable for your exhibition print/video materials which are lost or damaged.
If your film wins an official award, you are required to mention that fact in posters and other promotional material if and when the film gets distribution.
Please note that festival dates are subject to change.
Unfortunately, SMFF does not provide room, board or travel for filmmakers.
Use social networking to make friends and crash on their couch.
Please submit COMPLETED FILMS, not works-in-progress.
Films completed before January 2010 will not be considered.
